Why Join Overland Park South Rotary?
Overland Park South Rotary was chartered in 1989 by Rotary International. The club consists of more than 70 members from all walks of life. Leaders from fields of education, public service, finance, insurance, real estate, law, medicine, and dozens of other vocations bring their broad diversity to our club's work. Overland Park South Rotary is also a club with a broad age range and representation from both men and women.
Service above self is our motto. Service projects include: Building mobile cars for children that lack mobility through "Geeks for Kids", KidsTLC Holiday Shopping, school supply drives, food drives, and scholarships. We also hold a large fundraiser, the KC Crawfish Festival, in the spring of each year benefitting a local children's charity.
While service to others is paramount to club membership, the friendships that we make also lead to business connections. There are always fellow Rotarians available to help with business and personal needs!
The Opportunity to Serve
Rotarians provide service at both the community and international levels. Service programs address health-care needs, hunger and poverty, illiteracy, disaster relief, and environmental cleanups, to name a few. Members experience the fulfillment that comes from giving back to the community.
Professional Networking
A founding principle of Rotary was to provide a forum for professional and business leaders. Members are leaders in business, industry, the professions, the arts, government, sports, the military, and religion. They make decisions and influence policy. Rotary is the oldest, most prestigious service club organization in the world.
Personal Growth and Development
Membership in Rotary ensures continuing personal and professional development. Leadership, public speaking and communication, organization and planning, team-building, fundraising, and teaching are just a sampling of the skills that can be exercised and enhanced through Rotary.
World Understanding
Rotary members gain an understanding of humanitarian issues and have a significant impact on them through international service projects and exchange programs of Rotary International and its Foundation. The promotion of peace is one of Rotary's highest objectives.
