KCI Airport Project

Kate is the on-site communications lead for the $1.5 billion Kansas City International Airport (KCI) New Terminal Project, the single largest infrastructure project in Kansas City’s history. In addition to communications, videography, graphic design, and content creation for the KCI-Edgemoor, Clarkson Construction, and Build KCI social media accounts, she also supports the project’s Workforce Training and Strategic Partnership Program. Kate’s previous professional experience includes non-profit management, economic development, and healthcare administration.

Proud to be a Wildcat, Kate graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science and holds professional certifications from Rockhurst University. She volunteers with several prominent local non-profits, including Veterans Community Project, Bra Couture KC, a volunteer-driven organization that raises funds for uninsured and underinsured cancer patients in the region, and over a decade of service with Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City. She is an alumna of Leadership Overland Park’s class of 2016 and a current member of the Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge class of 2022.

Kate lives in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City with her husband, Sam, their absolutely terrible but very cute dog, McFly, and two cats, Fuzz Aldrin and Freddie Purrcury. Kate is no stranger to being around airports as she and her husband are avid travelers always looking for new places to explore. When not in a hardhat or on the go, Kate sells hand drawn cards and photography at local maker markets (@katesweetencreative) and loves spending time with friends and family.
